Fresh off the press

Jill Bergman December 9, 2024

I’m really excited to share this brand new linocut, Sandhill Crane, that I finished carving and printed today! I wanted to have it done last week, but you know, best laid plans and all.

The crane in this image is striding across a swampy field running with spring snowmelt. Greater Sandhill Cranes regularly migrate through Northwest Colorado around Steamboat Springs and west along the Yampa River corridor. Some pairs even nest and raise their babies, called colts. If you’d like to learn more, I recommend visiting Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition’s website. This organization even sets up a nest camera in the spring as one of the couples begins to nest. You can watch the crane family until the colt(s) start foraging further afield with the adults.

The ink on the first 6 of these big, beautiful prints will be dry enough to ship on Saturday, December 14. I’ve listed them in my online shop here. For you lovely supporters, I’ve created a discount code, HOLIDAYCRANE for 20% off. It will be active until Friday night. I will ship any prints that are ordered via FedEx on Saturday 12/14/24, so they should be able to arrive before Christmas. If those first 6 of the edition are sold, more will be coming, just not before Christmas. Send me an email and we’ll figure it out.

I really appreciate all of the kind words and support from friends, family, and followers this year. I’d especially like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has purchased artwork. I’m so glad you love it enough to buy, hang, and share.

I hope each of you has a peaceful holiday season. Let’s take care of each other in the New Year!

Jill
