Pika’s Bouquet
Pika’s Bouquet
Pika are sweet little mammals that live in the mountains on high elevation rocky slopes. They spend their summers collecting flowers and grasses to lay out, dry, and make into bunches called ‘haystacks.’ In the winter under insulating layers of snow, they don’t hibernate, instead they live in their burrows underground eating the plants they collected all summer.
This linocut is printed in black ink on Rives BFK printmaking paper. After the print is dry, I paint it with gouache, which is very similar to watercolor. Pika’s Bouquet is an edition of 20 prints. The image is 9 x 9 inches and the paper is 13 x 13 inches.
