Herons are my favorite birds. I love watching them flying, or standing at the river, or occasionally I see them nesting in the Yampa Valley. This print was a real joy to create, both because I love the birds, but also because I had a great time carving the patterns, textures, and flowing curves.

The Great Blue Heron is an original linocut on Rives BFK paper printed with black ink and painted with gouache in a small edition of 20 prints. It’s also beautiful as a black and white print without the added color, just let me know if you’d like it that way! The image is 18 x 24 inches and the paper is 22 x 30 inches.
