Inspired by the style of Audubon and William Morris, I’m making a series of florals with animals or insects that are part illustration and part decorative. For years I’ve painted my prints completely with watercolor, and more recently made several series with no paint at all, just the ink on the block. For these prints, I’m exploring heavier use of black ink with one accent color painted with gouache. I’m loving working this way, so you will definitely see more from me in this style!
Echinacea is printed on Rives BFK printmaking paper with black ink in an edition of 20 prints. The image is 13 x 20 inches and the paper is 16 x 24 inches.
