The Earth prints, Brains, and Colorado images are linocuts. There is a description of how they’re made on the bottom of the Illustrations page.

The Monster Party Guests and the Flower and Tree prints are Solarplate etchings. This is a recent printmaking method that uses plates made of light-sensitive polymer on a metal backing.

For these prints, I scanned the art into the computer and printed it in black onto film. The film lays over the plate and I put it in the sun for a short time.  Where there is no black to hide the polymer, the sun hardens it.

I rinse away the unhardened polymer and apply a thin film of ink to the plate. Then I run the plate and paper through an etching press.

These prints were done in black and colored with watercolor afterward.
